5 Products To Get You Through The Winter

Let’s face it, the winter months are really hard or your skin, body and mind. January was especially long (amiright!?), making all of my New Years goals nearly impossible to keep. But, there are warmer days in our future AND I’m sharing some amazing products that have helped me through the long winter.

Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides

If you’ve seen me in the last 6 months, you’ve probably heard me talk about collagen peptides because they are a GAME CHANGER. Here’s why, “collagen is the most abundant protein in the body and helps give structure to our hair, skin, nails, bones, ligaments and tendons in our body. Thanks to collagen, we’re better able to move, bend and stretch. Collagen is also behind helping hair shine, skin glow and nails stay strong.” – Vital Proteins website. ‘Nuff said? If not, read more HERE and HERE.

Vital Proteins makes a tasteless powder so I stir it into my coffee or tea every morning.

The results continue to amaze me. First and foremost, the reduction of fine lines. In my thirtieth year, I’ve started to see some fine line appear on my forehead – you know the “11” that shows up right between your eyebrows? These lines have have decreased. Yay!

I’ve also noticed my skin being softer and more supple, making skincare and makeup application very smooth.

Plus, you’re getting 18 grams of regular protein (in addition to 20 grams of collagen protein) per serving. Win, win, win!

STAY TUNED! I’m going to be giving away a month’s supply of Vital Proteins Collagen Peptides SOON!

Laundress Wool and Cashmere Shampoo

OK, I have to admit, I was skeptical when first trying this product. Having spent a small fortune dry cleaning cashmere, I thought this was wayyyy too easy. I tested the shampoo on an older sweater and was amazed when it came out of the wash softer than it went in! So here’s the deal… turn your sweaters inside out and place them in the wash on the delicate cycle in COLD water. Follow the instructions on the back regarding measurements and enjoy your fresh, clean sweaters! It’s that easy!

Herbivore Face Mist

Herbivore’s rose face mist is such a treat! Despite my valiant efforts, my skin gets really dry in the winter. I spritz my face before / after applying lotion in the morning and night, while applying makeup (my skin instantly soaks up foundation) and throughout the day! Buy here.

Burt’s Bees Hand Salve

Speaking of dry skin, my hands turn into sandpaper in the winter but Burt’s Bees hand salve is a life saver! I massage the salve into my cuticles and hands every evening before bed and once or twice during the day for smooth hands. Buy here (or at your local Whole Foods, Target or CVS).

Essential Oils

Essential oils are all the rage lately, and for good reason! My essential oil obsession started with lavender oil. I douse a little in my evening shower or bath. And before I bed, I drop a few drops into my palms, rub them together and take three deeps breaths. Some other favorites include eucalyptus, which I mix with vaseline and for a more natural cold solution, and lemon. I typically drop a few drops of lemon oil in my water or tea for a refreshing treat!

I’m not partial to any brand when buying essential oils. I have a mixed bag from Whole Foods, CVS and Doterra. Buy them where it’s move convenient for you!
