On May 18th, I had the pleasure of attending The Art Institute of Philadelphia’s Global Fashion Entrepreneurship Symposium at the Kimmel Center. Some of Philadelphia’s top trend setters came together to discuss the innovative business trends, ideas, and inspiration of Philly’s fashion industry.
Featured guest speakers included: Joan Shepp, founder and owner of Joan Shepp, Kristen Detterline-Munro, editor and Chief of Philly Style Magazine, Mary K. Dougherty of Mary K. Doughtery & Associates and owner of Nicole Miller stores, Nigel Richards, founder of 61 Lifestyle and Toi Sweeny, stylist and brand image strategist.
It was quite an honor to hear these Philadelphia fashion leaders and entrepreneurs talk about how they got started in the industry, built thriving businesses and stay inspired.
One thing they all have in common? Their love of Philadelphia! This group has traveled the world and they are all proud to call Philadelphia home. I couldn’t agree more! Philadelphia is home to unbelievably fashionable designers, artists, jewelers, boutiques, and so many other talented people!
